What is Wudang Duijian
The Duijian taolu (form) is a traditional two-person taolu designed to teach good habits and applications in sword sparring. Created in the mid-1920s by Li Jinglin and his sword team, it was developed from their daily training sparring sessions from movements that worked consistently in sparring.
Each Section progresses in complexity, and develops the skills learnt in previous sections. Eventually progressing to the full free-step duijian taolu in Section 6 (some lineages treat Duijian as 5 sections plus 1 free step separate section, ours treats them as 6 sections). Each section can be practiced individually, or performed in any order as required.
A full description with commentary on Wudang Duijian can be found in “The Major Methods of Wudang Sword” by Huang Yuan-xiao, translated by Dr. Lu Mei-Hui. Copies are available on Amazon (the original Chinese version is available on Taobao).
